Ray of Hope
OIL ON CANVAS. ORIGINAL SIZE 8x10 in

  • As they say, you can't make an omelet without breaking eggs. In other words, history shows no mercy.
  • Ray of Hope is similar to Farewell Kiss but its content is more dramatic. There is a token of future meetings and a sense that here this kiss may ultimately turn out to be the last.

The ray that shines in the lovers' faces inspires hope for salvation, and assurance that love never dies. Looking at the scene, we could say hope springs eternal. It is like the ancient Greek myth of Pandora's Box, in which the opening of the box releases a multitude of evils but for one item – hope – that remains sealed inside. Despite all else, hope remains.
